The printable storage boxes supplied with our card games use the same standard size and assembly method. Your box artwork may look different, but the cut lines, fold lines and tabs work in the same way.
Before you begin: allow the printed sheet to dry completely. Work on a clean, flat surface and take extra care when using scissors or a craft knife.
The box template uses solid lines for cutting and dashed lines for folding. Only cut around the outside solid edge. Keep every dashed line intact so the box remains joined together.
Print the template on thick card or cardstock. For best results, use 250–300gsm card. In the print window, choose Actual Size or 100% scale. Avoid “Fit to Page”, as it can change the finished box size.
Carefully cut around the outer solid line. Take your time around corners and tabs, and do not cut along the dashed fold lines.
Place a ruler along each dashed line and gently score it before folding. A scoring tool works best, but an empty ballpoint pen, the back of a craft knife or the edge of a ruler can also create a neat crease. Do not press hard enough to cut through the card.
Fold along every scored line with the printed sides facing outward. Crease each fold firmly. The main box shape should now begin to form.
Apply a small amount of glue or double-sided tape to the marked tabs. If you use glue, allow it to become slightly tacky before pressing the pieces together so it does not spill around the edges.
Attach the side tabs to form the main box shape. Hold each joined section firmly for a few seconds and check that the corners are straight before the glue dries.
Fold in the bottom flaps and secure them with glue or tape. If necessary, press down carefully from inside the box so the base sticks flat.
Wait until the glue is completely dry, then place the game cards inside. Check that the cards sit comfortably before closing the lid.
Open the box gently before the adhesive sets, straighten each scored fold and press the corners together again. Firm, accurate score lines usually make the biggest difference to the final shape.
